Connecting Targets and Devices

This section describes the steps to configure for enabling the display unit to communicate with external devices.

Note:

  1. In Project Explorer window, go to [System Architecture] → [Target01] and click [Driver].

  2. On Project Explorer window toolbar, click [Driver].
→ An Add Driver window opens.

  3. Select the desired driver and click [OK].

  4. Note: Click [Target01] to display the added driver on the System Architecture editor.

  5. Initially, one external device is added. To connect multiple external devices to a single driver, from the System Architecture editor toolbar, click [Equipment] and add external devices.

  6. After adding driver and equipment, in Project Explorer window, go to [System Architecture] and click [Driver].

  7. On the System Architecture editor, select the [Target Interface] for each driver.

  8. Note:

    • Refer to the communication settings in the Device/PLC Connection Manual and make the matching settings.

    • If the port protocol or communication method does not match between the display unit and external device, connection is not possible.

    • The port naming convention on the display unit and external devices is independent of the connection compatibility. Display unit COM1 can be connected to device COM2.

  9. In Properties window, go to [Basic] tab and configure the properties of the driver.

  10. Note: Refer to the communication settings in the Device/PLC Connection Manual and configure the settings as required.

  11. In the System Architecture editor, expand the driver tree, select each device and configure its properties in the Properties window.

  12. Note: Refer to the communication settings in the Device/PLC Connection Manual and configure the settings as required.

  13. Repeat Step 4 on to add multiple drivers and devices.
