Driver Install Instructions for the 4117T:
9/28/2006

The drivers can be found on the Xycom Doc CD by using the HTML interface
to navigate to them through unit model numbers to find the 4117T. For Explorer access
navigate to the D:\drivers\4117T folder. All the driver folders and files are contained there
unless specified otherwise.

Note: Not all vendors register their drivers with Microsoft so when 2K or XP ask if you want to
continue or ask if you want to install the unsigned driver, then answer YES.

1. Load the OS and any Service Packs for the OS. Xycom supports XP Pro with
SP2, or Windows 2K with SP4. If you have trouble with "!" appearing on USB devices after
reboots with Windows 2K then unplug all USB devices temporarily, install the USB 2.0 hotfix,
   and reboot the machine.

2. After the OS and Service Packs are loaded, install the .Inf files. Go to the Chipset folder and
run the SETUP.EXE file. Note: Microsoft complains about many of the drivers signatures being
unknown etc. Just ignore these messages and answer yes to continue loading the driver.

3. Install the Intel chipset/video controller drivers. Go to the Video folder and
run the win2k_xp1415.exe file. After it automatically unzips run the setup.exe file (if it
   doesn't run automatically).

4. Extract the 10/100 base T (Intel) LAN driver. Go to the Lan\2K_XP folder and run the
82559ER.exe file. Choose at location on you hard drive to put it in (like LAN\82551ER). Next,
for the 10/100 base T (Intel) LAN driver, go into the device manager, and select update
driver. Manually point to the LAN\82551ER folder and start the update.

5. Install the 10/100/1000 base T (Intel) LAN driver. Go to the Lan\2K_XP folder and
run the pro2kxp.exe file. When it unzips choose your driver location then let it install
   driver.

5. Unzip the self-extracting wdm_a366.exe file to your Windows based system. When prompted for the
unzip location enter in a path like C:\drivers\audio so you can easily find the driver later
if needed. Run setup to install the Audio driver.

6. Note: If one of the Intel USB 2.0 driver (EHCI) drivers shows up in the device manager with
a "!" mark on it do the following to correct it.

In device manager select the properties for the failing device. Next, click on update. Let
the OS attempt to find the driver. When it comes back with the screen that allows you to
and option to let you see a list of alternate drivers select that, then choose the Microsoft
driver instead of the Intel driver. Once the Microsoft driver is loaded and Device manager
doesn't show the "!" on the previously failing device, update the driver again. This time
let the OS select the Intel driver and load it. The "!" should no longer be present with
   Intel driver.

7. After booting make sure that you have SP4 loaded (i.e. To check this you can click on My
Computer, then once the window opens click on About. The SP information should be shown there.)
Next, load the USB 2.0 hotfix as follows: Go to the D:\drivers\Hotfixes\USB20 folder and
run the 2K-KB822568-x86-ENU.exe file. Reboot the computer.

-----------Troubleshooting---------------

Intel Chipset/Video driver:

If you have a CRT connected with no video it may be because you didn't have a CRT connected at boot
time. To correct this turn off the power, connect the video cable to the unit, and turn the
power back on. You should see video sometime during the BIOS Power On Self Test (POST). If
video doesn't appear during the POST then try another montitor or verify with another PC/AT that
your current monitor is ok. If this doesn't correct the problem then the unit needs to be
returned to Xycom for repair.

If the screen flickers when you press a CTRL+ALT sequence (like CTRL+ALT+F1) one possible cause
is the hot keys that are enabled by default for the Intel video driver. If you disable the
Intel video driver hotkeys this behavior will stop.

USB:

If USB devices install correctly but after reboot are no longer recognized, then you may have
the following problem: Windows 2K SP2 doesn't support USB properly. Please load Windows 2K SP4.
In addition if needed, load the USB 2.0 hotfix for 2K (contained in drivers\Hotfixes\USB20).

If you cannot boot from a USB device that you have installed then the device is probably not a
Floppy or CD-ROM drive. These devices are typically bootable with BIOS's but others may not be.
Note: Remember to select the proper boot devices for the boot order you prefer in BIOS setup.

PS/2 TOUCHSCREEN, KEYBOARD, MOUSE:

Moving the PS/2 mouse around and pressing keys on the PS/2 keyboard while the OS is still
booting can cause keyboard and mouse lockups. You can still plug in a USB mouse or keyboard to
do a controlled shutdown on OS's that support USB.

For Windows 2K and XP, if you are using a non-Microsoft mouse that is working but is very slow,
or is fast enough but it's movements very granular you may have to change the Control Panel
mouse settings to get the speed where you want it.
