Keep Runtime Data after Transferring

When user information and Ethernet settings on the display unit do not match the screen editing software, you can choose to either keep the run-time data or overwrite it during a transfer operation.

In an Ethernet or USB transfer operation, when the display unit’s alarm, data logging or operation log settings match the screen editing software, you can choose to either keep or clear the runtime data.

Note: For information on models that support this feature, see the following.
Supported Model/Feature List

When Using Ethernet or USB Transfer

The [Download Manager] dialog box displays during the transfer process. For each item, select to keep the run-time data, overwrite or clear it.

Security:

You can keep or overwrite the following when the user information does not match between the screen editing software and runtime.

[User Management]

Data Value:

You can keep or clear the applicable log data when all of the following match between the screen editing software and runtime.

[Logging Data]

[Alarm Log Data]

[Operation Log Data]

Note: If you choose to keep the operation log settings, the logs recorded in the past are kept. As a result, if you transfer a different project file, the logs in the past may not match the project file contents.

Example:

Transfer a project that does not have Switch1 even though the operation log data of having touched Switch1 is kept.

Configuration Data:

You can keep or overwrite the following when the Ethernet Settings do not match between the screen editing software and runtime. When using ST6000 Series and STM6000 Series, you can keep or clear the local storage.

[Ethernet1]

[Ethernet2]

[Local Storage]

Note:

When Using File System Transfer

Unlike Ethernet and USB transfer operations, File System transfer requires defining some properties in the screen editing software. In the default settings, when you run the File System transfer operation, even if the run-time data does not match the screen editing software, run-time data is preserved. If you want to overwrite the run-time data, change the following settings:

  1. In the Project Explorer window, go to [System Architecture] and click [Target01].

  2. In the Properties window, go to [Advanced] tab ➞ [Settings] tab ➞ [Preferences] ➞ [Keep Runtime Data for file system download] and clear the [User Management] (user information) and [Ethernet Settings] check boxes.
  3. Run the File System transfer operation. The display unit is now set up to overwrite its run-time data during transfer.
  4. The next time you run the File System transfer operation, if the run-time data does not match the screen editing software, run-time data is overwritten.
