Recovery Mode

Overview

When a display unit fails to accept the project in a transfer operation, follow the steps below to enter recovery mode and transfer the project again. If a problem occurs during a project transfer operation, the system automatically enters recovery mode.

Important:

  • There are no security features included with recovery mode. For safely transferring project files, refer to the following.
    Cybersecurity
  • Do not turn OFF the PC or display unit, nor disconnect the transfer cable during recovery.

Recovery via Touch

Note:

  • Display units with a projective capacitive (P-CAP) display do not support recovery via touch. P-CAP displays initialize the touch panel during startup. If you touch the touch panel while it is initializing, subsequent touches will not work.
  • SP5000 Series Power Box and SP5000X Series do not support project transfers via FTP server.
  • To use recovery via touch on a box module, a display module needs to be connected.

  1. Turn on the display unit.
  2. Touch and hold the bottom-left corner or bottom-right corner (within an 80 pixel area) of the display until a dialog box appears.
For ST6000 2nd Gen Series, touch the bottom-left or bottom-right corner twice while the display unit is booting.

    Note:

    • When the project is set up in portrait mode, the corners of the touch areas for entering recovery mode are as follows:
      • When display is rotated clockwise

      • When display is rotated counter-clockwise
    • For information on rotating display units, refer to [Orientation] in the following
      Target Settings
  3. The dialog box displays the question, "Do you want to enter recovery mode?" Click [Yes] to enter recovery mode.
For ST6000 2nd Gen Series, the [System Settings] screen appears. Go to [System] - [Recovery], then touch [Execute] to enter recovery mode.
  4. Transfer the project. Depending on your transfer method, the following setup may be required.
    • Transferring a Project Over an USB Cable
Connect the USB cable and transfer the project. No set up is required in recovery mode.

      Note:

When using ST6000 2nd Gen Series, you cannot change the USB settings in recovery mode. Go to the display unit's [System Settings] to change the settings.
    • Transferring a Project Over Ethernet with IPsec
Set up the following and transfer the project. For information about IPsec, refer to the following.
Transferring a Project over Ethernet with IPsec
    Setting Description
    [Ethernet Download] [Enable]
[IPsec] Touch [IPsec], select [Enable] and set the [Preshared Key].
[Ethernet] Displays the [IP Address], [Subnet Mask], and [Default Gateway]. If you are using a model where these settings are not visible, touch [Ethernet] to view.

    Note:

When using ST6000 2nd Gen Series
    • You cannot change the Ethernet settings in recovery mode. Go to the display unit's [System Settings] to change the settings.
    • When Ethernet ports are disabled, the Ethernet port names (eth1, eth2) do not display.
    • The Preshared Key configured in recovery mode is not retained. Therefore, if you transfer a project using IPsec after recovery, you must configure the Preshared Key on the display unit again.
    • Transferring a Project with the File System
Insert the external storage with the project downloaded to it, and touch either [SD] or [USB].

      Note:

When using ST6000 2nd Gen Series, you cannot change the USB settings in recovery mode. Go to the display unit's [System Settings] to change the settings.
    • Transferring a Project Over Ethernet
Set up the following and transfer the project.
    Setting Description
    [Ethernet Download] [Enable]
    [IPsec] Touch [IPsec], select [Disable].

    • Transferring a Project with the FTP Server

Recovery via Application

You can use the following recovery method on SP5000 Series Open Box, IPC Series, and PC/AT display units.

Important: Exit other applications before performing recovery. If project transfer fails during recovery, the operating system will restart without confirmation.

  1. If BLUE Runtime is running, exit the application.
  2. From the Windows Start menu, start [BLUE Runtime Recovery Mode].

    Note:

    • When the User Account Control dialog box for running TransferService.exe as an administrator is displayed, click [Yes].
