Application Toolbar

The [Application Toolbar] displays commands such as [Simulate], [Transfer], [Save], and [Undo].

Description

Creates a new project or new compound object.

Opens an existing project, Compound Object Explorer or Recent Projects.

Saves or Saves As the project.

Closes the project.

Cancels the previous command and returns to the state before the operation. You can undo multiple operations.

Performs the command previously canceled using [Undo].

Cuts out selected screen, script, object, etc., and saves them to the clipboard.

Makes a copy of the selected screen, script, object, or compound object in the clipboard.

Pastes the information in the clipboard into the project, or compound object.

Copies and pastes multiple copies of the selected object.

Copying Multiple Objects

Deletes the selected item.

Displays the state of parts displayed in the Screen Editor and compound object editor.

You can change the state from state 0 to state 255.

Displays the current language in the Screen Editor.

You can change the language using the drop-down list.

Displays a list of windows in the screen editing software. From the drop-down list, select the window you want to view.

Performs project simulation.

What is Simulation?

Transfers the project to the display unit.

Transferring a Project for The First Time

Displays the following contents.

  • [Online Help]: Displays the manual (website).
  • [Offline Help]: Displays the manual (installed).
  • [HMI Design Studio]: Displays the HMI Design Studio (website).
  • [Readme]: Displays the ReadMe.
  • [About]: Displays the Screen Editing Software version.

Selects the user interface language for the screen editing software.

Configure the settings for the screen editing software.

[General]

[AutoSave]

Enable or disable the [AutoSave] feature.

When enabled, changes to the project and compound objects are automatically saved in the background, 1 minute after any modifications.

Note:

  • By default, AutoSave is disabled.
  • AutoSave will not activate until the project has been manually saved at least once.
  • When AutoSave is enabled, compound objects within the [Compound Object Library] are automatically saved. However, compound objects used in the project are not automatically updated. To reflect changes, manually update them using drag & drop, copy & paste, or import operations.

[Screen]

[Show Grid]

Show grid lines or dots.

You can set the size, color, and type of grid.

[Show Layout Guides] Displays guide lines for grids and scroll grids. You can set the color of the grid lines.
[Cursor Color] Sets the color of the crosshair cursor.
[Snap Objects] Align to the grid lines and dots.
[Show Ruler] Show Ruler
[Show Crosshair Cursor] Enable to display the crosshair cursor.
[Default Layout Type] Sets the default layout type for screens, content, and compound objects.
[Default number of rows for Grid/Scroll Grid] Sets the default number of columns for grids and scroll grids.
[Default number of columns for Grid/Scroll Grid] Sets the default number of rows for grids and scroll grids.

[Script]

[Default Script Mode] Sets the default script mode for the project.
[Auto Format] Select this check box to format text automatically when in Text mode.
[Font Size] Set to use the specified font size (6...72) for all text script editors in the project.
[Color Theme]

Set to use the specified color theme for all text script editors in the project.

[Certificates]

Manage the OPC UA client certificate to enable secure communication when importing symbols from the OPC UA server.

Note: OPC UA connections have been verified to work with the following OPC UA servers. Before using an OPC UA connection, test to confirm operations are valid.

  • BLUE
  • EcoStruxture Automation Expert
  • EcoStruxture OPC UA Server Expert
  • EcoStruxture Machine Expert
[Client Certificate] Displays the location where the generated certificate is stored.

Generates a new OPC UA client certificate and stores it in the system.

Note:

  • The generated certificate contains a private key and is saved under the current user's Personal Certificates in the Windows Certificate Store.
  • The certificate is valid for 5 years from the date of generation.

Exports the generated certificate and saves it in the selected location as a binary format X.509(.DER) file.

Note:

  • The Export button is disabled until a certificate has been generated.
  • The exported certificate file does not contain the private key.
  • Use the exported certificate for configuring the OPC UA Server.

Regenerates the OPC UA client certificate.

Note:

  • Once the certificate is regenerated, previously exported OPC UA server certificates become invalid.
  • This button is visible only after a certificate has been successfully generated.

[Snap Objects]

Displays the setting of [Snap Objects] in [Settings].

You can also click directly to switch between settings.

[Show Ruler]

Displays the setting status of [Show Ruler] in [Settings].

You can also click directly to switch between settings.

[Show Crosshair Cursor]

Displays the setting status of [Show Crosshair Cursor] in [Settings].

You can also click directly to switch between settings.

[Reset Application Settings]

Reset various settings to default.
