Saving Variable Values (Retentive Variables)

Enable [Retentive] in internal variables to save variable values to backup memory (SRAM), so that when the display unit is restarted the variable value is preserved.

Note:

  • The number of variables you can set [Retentive] depends on the available space in backup memory (SRAM). To check the data area required to retain variable values, see the following.
Calculating the Size of Data to Save

  • Regardless of the [Retentive] setting, variable values are reset to their [Initial Value] every time the project is transferred.

  • You cannot enable [Retentive] in external variables.

(Example)

Retentive ON, Initial Value 0

  1. The initial value at runtime startup is the value set in the editor.
  2. You can change the value in display unit.
  1. The display unit shuts down.
  1. When the display unit restarts, the last value that was set before the display unit shutdown is displayed.
