Setting Common Properties for Multiple Objects on a Screen at One Time
Select multiple objects on the same screen and set all the common properties
of those objects at one time. This reduces the time and effort required
to set up the common properties in each object.
Conditions for One-time Setting
Object Types
Objects (Parts, Shapes, Predefined Images and Layout Objects that are
displayed in the [Tool Chest]) on the same screen or objects in the same
Layout Object.
Parts, Shapes or Predefined Images in the same Layout Object cannot be
selected with objects outside the Layout Object even though they may be
on the same screen.
Conditions for Applicable Properties
The following must be identical.
- Property name
- Data types of settings
- Control types (checkbox, spinbutton and so on)
- Tab hierarchy in the [Properties] window (i.e., hierarchy such
as Shape > Basic)
If the hierarchy is not the same in the [Properties] window, the property
will not display even if the property names are the same.
Operations for One-time Setting
- When multiple objects are selected on the screen, only the common
properties that can be set display in the [Properties] window.
At that time, the [Name] at the top of the [Properties] window shows
“Selected X Objects”
(X is the number of selected objects), and the [Type] shows “Multiple
Types”. When there are no properties that are common
and configurable, the [Properties] window shows blank.
- Change the objects to edit as required.
To clear the selection of an object, hold the [Shift] key and click
the object.
Alternatively, click the pull-down button to the right of the "Multiple
Types" to display a list and clear the object
checkbox to exclude from the one-time setting.
- The set values are retained for properties that do not display for the
one-time setting.
- When all or some of the common property values are different among the
selected objects, the property is grayed out and empty (no value) or [None],
depending on the property.
- When common property settings (e.g., checkbox) are different, the
property is displayed as indeterminate (e.g., checkbox with a bold frame)
and confirmation is required. Reconfigure the settings.
- When the source property associations for a common property are different,
the property is blank and the Property Marker is gray. The same applies
when there is a property that is not associated with any source property.
- After the one-time setting, if the common property value for all the objects
is invalid, the property displays a red frame to indicate an error.
- After the one-time setting, if the common property value for some of the
objects is invalid, the property does not display a red frame to indicate
an error. Check the [Error] window for these invalid values.
- To restore the previous settings after the one-time setting, click the
[Undo] button in the [Application toolbar].
- To return each property to its default value, click the square icon (property
marker) next to the property and select [Reset To Default].
