Properties (Compound Object Properties)

Overview

Compound object properties are user-defined properties that you can set on compound objects. Use the compound object properties to set values required to operate the compound object in the project. Use the property editor to create compound object properties. You can also create a compound object property in the Compound Object Property Selector.

Note:

  • A property created for the compound object is listed in the [Properties] window even if it is not used by the compound object.
  • Up to 300 compound object properties can be created per compound object.
  • Up to 3,600 compound object properties can be configured per screen. If exceeded, errors will appear at run time.

Creating Compound Object Properties

To create a compound object property, select [CompoundObject1] > [Properties] to open the property editor. From the drop-down list in the top-left corner, select the type of compound object property you want to create. Set the compound object property items in accordance with the application.

Toolbar

  1. Toggle between displaying compound object properties and the name and description in each configured language.
  2. Select the type of compound object property to add.
  3. Appears only when STRUCT is selected. Select the type you want to add to the STRUCT.
  4. Change the order of compound object properties.
  5. Expand or collapse all child properties.
  6. Display the [Table Settings] dialog box.
  7. Search for property names.

Property (Default property)

Use [Table Settings] to select which types of properties to display. You can hide any property except [Name], [Display Name], and [Type].

Name

Compound object property name. Duplicate names at the same level are not allowed. The name of the compound object property accepts both single-byte and multi-byte characters. The name is case-insensitive. The name can be up to 32 characters long.

Display Name

The display name of the compound object property accepts both single-byte and multi-byte characters. The display name can be up to 256 characters long.

Type

Select the type of compound object property. When [Structure] is selected, you can nest up to 6 levels.

Assigning Compound Object Properties

To assign a compound object property, select the placed graphic object and go to the [Properties] window. Click the property marker next to the property that you want to assign and select the [Compound Object] from the list. When the [Compound Object Property Selector] dialog appears, either select the property or create a compound object property.

To create a property, click [Add Property], enter the [Name] and [Display Name], then click the [Add] button.
