Exporting and Importing Compound Objects

How to Export

Export a compound object by using the Compound Object Explorer toolbar.

  1. Select the compound object in the [Compound Object Library] or [Project Compound Objects] node, and on the toolbar, click the export icon.
  2. In the Export Compound Object dialog box, specify the destination and file name, path and save the file.

Compound Object Protection

You can set a password for a compound object in the [Properties] window. In the [Settings] group, select the [Confirm Password On Export] option. On exporting a compound object, a dialog box appears, prompting for the password required when importing the compound object. Store the password in a secure location.

How to Import

Import a compound object by using the Compound Object Explorer toolbar.

Importing Compound Object File

  1. Select the [Compound Object Library] or [Project Compound Objects] node and click the  drop-down icon on the toolbar > [Import from File].
  2. If a password has been set for the compound object, enter the password.
  3. If a compound object with the same name already exists, choose whether to overwrite it or create a new one.

Importing from the Compound Object Library

You can import compound objects from previous versions of the Compound Object Library.

  1. Select the [Compound Object Library] node, then click the  drop-down icon > [Import From Previous Version].
  2. In the [Import From:] field, choose the version you are importing from.
  3. From the list of available compound objects, select the compound objects to import.
  4. Specify how to handle compound object names if they already exist in the destination.
  5. Click [Import].

Check the import results below the [Status] heading in the compound object list.

Note:

  • You cannot import compound objects created in a version newer than the current screen editing software.
  • Compound objects cannot be edited during import.
