Connection Configuration

IMPORTANT:

When using more than one driver with one Display (except SP-5B10), there are the following limitations as listed below.
The Modbus SIO Slave driver (communication speed: 38400 or more) of Modbus Organization cannot be used simultaneously.
The DH-485 driver of Rockwell Automation, Inc. cannot be used simultaneously.
The SIMATIC S7 MPI Direct driver of Siemens AG cannot be used simultaneously.
This driver cannot be used with both COM1 and COM2.

NOTE

This driver does not support ST6000 2nd Gen Series.
This driver operates as a slave device. The driver cannot operate as a master.

Micro Series

1:1 Connection

You can connect the Display to TER port, AUX port or PCMCIA card. Each port can connect to different Display and communicate separately.

n:1 Connection (when using accessory box)

Premium Series

1:1 Connection

You can connect the Display to TER port, AUX port, PCMCIA card or communication module. Each port can connect to different Display and communicate separately.

Examples of communication settings of the Display and the External Device, recommended by Pro-face, are shown.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

NOTE

In the [Properties] window, use the [Use Server] driver property to specify whether the Display operates as either client/server or as a client.

When the [Use Server] check box is selected:
The Display operates as client and server. The client/server addresses are allocated based on the [Base Address] and the [No. of Consecutive Addresses]. The base address is the server address, and the remaining addresses are for client addresses.

When the [Use Server] check box is cleared:
The Display operates as a client. Clients are allocated to addresses from the [Base Address] for the [No. of Consecutive Addresses].

Cable Diagram

The following cable diagrams may be different from cable diagrams recommended by External Device Manufacturer.

Please be assured there is no operational problem in applying the cable diagram shown in this manual.

The FG pin of the External Device body must be grounded according to your country's applicable standard. Refer to your External Device manual for details.
SG and FG are connected inside the Display. When connecting the External Device to SG, design your system to avoid short-circuit loops.
Connect an isolation unit if the communication is not stable due to noise or other factors.

Supported Devices

Range of supported device address is shown in the table below. Please note that the actually supported range of the devices varies depending on the External Device to be used. Please check the actual range in the manual of your External Device.

As it also varies depending on the "Software Configuration" setting of the ladder software, please check accordingly.

WARNING

UNINTENDED EQUIPMENT OPERATION

Do not simultaneously write to the same register from Display and External Device program.
Do not write 16-bit word values to registers being accessed in a bitwise manner.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
