External Storage Precautions for Use

WARNING

UNABLE TO MONITOR  SYSTEM/PROCESS

When you use an external storage device for project data management:

  • Do not disconnect the device while the display unit is running.
  • Ensure USB is plugged in properly.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

 

NOTICE

loss of data

  • Back up the data periodically on an external storage device.
  • When accessing external storage, do not power OFF or reset the display unit, or disconnect external storage.
  • Do not download screen data (Send Project) to the display unit while writing data to external storage.
  • When removing the CFast Card, always be certain to power off the display unit.
  • When installing external storage, be careful on the front and back position of the external storage and its connectors.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.

 

NOTICE

  • Do not leave external storage exposed to static electricity or electromagnetic waves
  • Do not leave external storage exposed to high temperatures, such as those caused by direct sunlight or heaters

  • Do not bend the external storage

  • Do not drop the external storage

  • Do not spill water on the external storage

  • Do not touch the connections on a display unit

  • Do not disassemble or modify the external storage

Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.

 

NOTICE

When you connect one or more USB devices to a display unit via a USB hub, use a USB hub with external power supply.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.

 

Removing the External Storage

Important:

  • Do not remove the external storage from the display unit while it is being accessed. Doing so could corrupt the data.
  • When you save the following data to the external storage specified in the [Save in] field, turn off the display unit before removing the external storage.
    • Alarm
    • Data Logging
    • Operation Log

If you remove external storage before turning off the display unit, the above data cannot be collected even though external storage is inserted again. In this scenario, restart the display unit after inserting external storage.

To properly remove an external storage device, use one of the following methods:

When Using SP5000 Series Power Box, SP5000X Series, GP-4100 Series, ST6000 Series, or STM6000 Series

You must include Hardware Configuration in your project to remove an external storage device from the display unit.

  1. Open Hardware Configuration.
  2. Click [Eject] of SD/USB.
    → The eject switch becomes grayed out.

Note:

  • When the SD Card removal process is complete, the display unit's SD Card access LED is OFF. Confirm that the LED lamp is OFF, then remove the SD Card.
  • You can remove an external storage by [External Device] operation too.

When Using SP5000 Series Open Box (Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Model)

You do not have to perform any operations on Windows before removing the external storage from the display unit.

Make sure that the external storage is not being accessed before removing the external storage from the display unit.

Do not remove the external storage device from the display unit while it is being accessed. Doing so could corrupt the data.

Note:

  • When the SD Card removal process is complete, the display unit's SD Card access LED is OFF. Confirm that the LED lamp is OFF, then remove the SD Card.
  • You cannot remove an external storage by [External Device] operation or Hardware Configuration screen.

    About Hardware Configuration

When Using IPC Series or PC/AT

Perform the operation for removal on Windows desktop screen before removing the external storage.

Click the [Safely Remove Hardware] icon , then in the list of devices, click the device that you want to remove.
or
Click [Start] , click [Computer], right-click the device you want to remove, then click [Eject].
→ Windows displays a notification that it is safe to remove the device.

Note:

  • Your Windows version is Windows 10 version 1809 or later, you do not have to perform the above operation.
    Make sure that the external storage is not being accessed before removing the external storage from the display unit.
    Do not remove the external storage device from the display unit while it is being accessed. Doing so could corrupt the data.
  • When the SD Card removal process is complete, the panel's SD Card access LED is OFF. Confirm that the LED lamp is OFF, then remove the SD Card.
  • You cannot remove an external storage by [External Device] operation or Hardware Configuration screen.
